Pomfret fish is a very common sea-fish in the world. There are no fish in the earth as like a pomfret, it is called the kingfish of the ocean. The word pomfret comes from the Portuguese word “pampo” which means various fish such as blue butterfish. These fish are found in almost every ocean such as the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific oceans as well as the Norwegian Sea, the Mediterranean, and the sea of Japan. There are almost 20 species which are found in the high seas. This aristocratic fishes are very expensive to buy.

There are various types of pomfret fish in the earth such as white, silver, grey and black pomfret. All these fish are very delicious to eat. It is very expensive and rare to get. In the market pomfret fish is also called butter fish. Butter fish is actually white pomfret fish. Pomfret fish can be cooked after removing it’s inner organs and spine. Pomfret is widely consumed because of its white flesh and amazing taste. This can be delivered gravy, roast, fried or grilled according to our likings.
